Welsh Open Day 1

All the usual suspects progressed in the top half of the draw

Neil Robertson ran out a comfortable 4-0 winner over young James Cahill in which he managed 3 century breaks. The rocket didn’t set the world alight but still ran out an easy 4-1 winner over Vinnie Calabrese. Shaun Murphy led 3-1 before a spirited comeback from Steven Hallworth took the match to a final frame decider. Murphy gained his composure to make a 66 break to kill off any hopes of an upset.

Matthew Stevens has been struggling of late but must be able to take some confidence into the next round after recovering from 3-1 down to the up and coming Oliver Lines to win the next three frames and pull off what looked an unlikely victory for a while!! That sets Stevens up with a second round class with Kendo, who himself won the last two frames to beat Zhou Yuelong.
