The final four players of this year’s Q-School were announced Monday in Burton with Gaz Allen,Jason Weston,Duane Jones & Paul Davison joining the tour for next season.
It’s always a tense final day in the final Q-School with players knowing a final slip up will see them stay in the amateur ranks for another season.Jason Weston got past Kuldesh Johal 4-2 in his final game to qualify.A modest but solid display saw the former pro return to the tour after over a decade away.
Best buddies Gaz Allen and Alex Taubman went head-to-head to try and fullful their dreams of finally getting on the tour.The Welsh potter came out on top in the end 4-2 with breaks of 81 & 44.
Duane Jones caused the shock of the round beating Chinese starlet Zhao Xintong in a decider.This was the young Welsh player’s career best result taking the seventh frame on the final black to book his place with the big boys next year.
The final spot of this year’s Q-School went to Paul Davison as he came through his own decider against Luke Simmonds 4-3.After taking a 3-0 lead,”Snowy” hit the wall and found himself going to a decider to try and get back on the tour.Davison however,kept his nerve in frame seven to get over the line with a break of 41.
These four join Eden Sharav,Rhys Clark,Sydney Wilson & Daniel Wells on next season’s tour.
