It’s obviously a format not to everyone’s taste, but there was good snooker on show the majority of the time and we got to see a lot more of the winning pair than what we’re acustomed to. It certainly wasn’t in the script with Ding & Xaio in the first team, but with China allowed to enter two teams being the hosts, they elected to go for a youthful approach with their second option. This paid dividends with Ding & Guodong exiting at the Q-Final stage so the vibrant crowd got behind the teenage outfit to spur on a Chinese win.
The world has definitely seen potential superstars in these two,so it’s a case of watch this space and admire what will be an enjoyable ride from the Chinese pair.
